Thank you to everyone who attended the summer season AGM. We have the most teams we have ever had confirmed to play this season! If you couldn’t make it, this is what we discussed…
- Roll call of teams
- Election of committee which remains the same
- The winter finals night at Paulton Rovers was judged to be a big success again and so will remain there for the summer season.
- The early closing of the bar at Peasedown CC on knockout night was discussed but the issues were not deemed problematic enough to stop the club from being a venue again.
- The league structure will be two divisions for this season and possibly move to three divisions should teams remain playing in the future.
- The main singles and pairs competitions will now pay £100 for the winners.
- As we now have more teams, we will pay prize money down to third place in each division.
- There was some concern about the length of the night in some D2 games. There was much discussion on how to speed things up but in the end it was decided that captains could agree to start earlier if both teams are ready and that captains should keep the games flowing and not allow long breaks between games.
- Mark (the treasurer) suggested there was no need to increase league fees.
- After a tie in D1 in the winter, it was proposed that leg difference should be the deciding factor over games won. However this was rejected.
- We will look into improving the printing of fixtures from the website.
- With so many teams entering, the format of the knockout and subsidiary cups was questioned. It was decided to continue as if for the time being and making sure the evening starts promptly.
- After a low turnout in some venues for the main singles competition it was suggested that players should only enter if they intend to attend the venue they are drawn in.
- There will little likelihood of spare weeks to play catch up games so the league was reminded that games will need to be played on other nights.
- The league was reminded that we have a number of new teams and leeway should be given to new markers and help should be given. We all start somewhere!
- A reminder that playing sheets, rules and signing on forms are available on the downloads page of the main website.
The divisions will be:
D1: Lamb A (Clandown), Peasedown CC, Westhill, Riverside, The Waldegrave, Norton SC, The Star, Mardons, Paulton Rovers, Lamb B (Clandown)
D2: Crossways A, Crossways B, Lamb C (Clandown), Lamb D (Clandown), Red Lion A, Red Lion B, The Crown, Lamb A (Paulton), Lamb B (Paulton), Radstock Working Men’s Club, Haydon Q Club
The fixtures will be complicated to produce so please bear with us. We aim to start on April 10th but this may change. Good luck to everyone, we hope you enjoy the season!
