Final AGM summing up for me!
Thank you to everyone who attended last night. It turned out to be the quickest AGM we have ever done I think! Here is a summary of what happened…
1)Allan, Matt and Mark were re-elected to the committee. I stood down from the committee but will continue to receive the results and put them on the website. I will be around behind the scenes still – for example – as I have to put the fixtures into the software and on the website it makes sense that I continue to produce the fixtures each season (this is an easy job anyway as I have templates). However I will not be part of any decision making. For example, I had no input into which division each team was placed. Also, I will not be available answer questions regarding matters arising in the league (except possible errors on the website). These should be directed to the remaining members of the committee.
2)Fees will remain at £80 plus £5 charity donation (£85 in total) plus separate singles and pairs entries.
3)Divisional Singles – Venues will be decided upon at the mid-season meeting it it was suggested that Westhill Club and Mardons may be able to have three boards in place. Other venues would also be considered at the meeting.
4)Wooden Spoons for teams finishing last in each division. This was rejected on a vote.
Any other business:
The suggestion of a seniors competition (and possible youth) was brought up. It was suggested this could be an annual competition between the summer and winter seasons and details would be arranged at the mid-season meeting.
The meeting was closed.
After the meeting the divisions were decided as:
D1 – Waldegrave A, Red Post, Crown Exiles, Riverside, Waldegrave B, Peasedown Posse, Crown & Out’s, Norton SC
D2 – Railway A, Mardons, Westhill, Red Lion, Railway B, Radstock Town FC, Crossways, Paulton Rovers
Fixtures are now up on the ‘division’ pages of the main website and I will be producing downloadable versions soon. Cards, fixtures and rules etc. will be distributed asap.

This was my final meeting that I will have much involvement with (for the foreseeable future) so I’d just like to add a few words here. This is something I posted on Facebook after finals night but not everyone will see it there:
“Blimey. 20 seasons over 10 years. It’s a long time to be helping to run a darts league. I’ve enjoyed almost every single minute of it though. I’ll leave it to you to guess the few moments I didn’t… (and it was situations rather than people!)
Darts players are the best people in the world. Although we all try our hardest when we play, off the board it’s the friendliest sport I know.
Although I will miss the day to day stuff I will be around in the background so you haven’t quite got rid of me yet.
I’m so proud of the league we set up ten years ago. The standard has improved year after year and it so gratifying to see the best players in the area want to play in The Courage League.
Of course, although I probably do/did the day to day work that everyone was aware of, it couldn’t run without the help of all of us. So thank you to Lee, Geoff, Pete, Matt and Mark for all their work on the committee over the years. Special thanks to Allan who has kept me going more than he knows.
Thank you to everyone who has played in the league too. Without the support of the brilliant players in the area we wouldn’t have a league at all.
I look forward to the summer league which looks like it will be one of the most competitive yet! ”
